Salute to Veterans

Village of Estero Veterans Day Event is Nov. 12

The Village of Estero welcomes all citizens to attend this year’s Veterans Day event at the Estero Recreation Center in the community park on Nov. 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to say “thank you” to those who served our country to preserve and protect the freedoms we all enjoy.

This year’s event offers something for all age groups. Activities include children’s games, face painting, a bounce house, balloon art by Way Too Tall Torrie, an auto show of great American cars, Lee County Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. team vehicle, an Estero Fire Rescue firetruck and an ambulance.

The New Horizons Children’s Choir will sing on stage with Estero’s own nationally recognized concert artist, Lindsey Graham. Graham will sing a variety of patriotic and pop songs, along with the National Anthem and Armed Forces Medley.

The Estero High School ROTC unit will present the colors and participate in the National Anthem. The Lee County Sheriff’s Department Drum and Bugle Corps, with the riderless horse, will conduct a 27-gun salute following a moving tribute to all the branches of the Armed Forces, including the new Space Force.

Bring the whole family and your friends and neighbors, plus a blanket or chair to relax on during the performance. The Village will provide water, and there will be three food trucks offering a variety of food choices.

VOLUNTEERS HELP MAKE COMMUNITY EVENTS HAPPEN

The Village of Estero operates under a government lite staffing model, meaning there is a very limited staff to control costs and maximize operational efficiencies of each department.

The Village is very fortunate to have many organizations that are willing to help organize and staff community events. For example, the Rotary Club of Estero takes the lead on organizing the annual Light Up Estero holiday event, which will be held sometime the first week of December at Estero Park.

The Veterans Day event team has volunteers from the following organizations: Estero Rotary Club, Estero church groups, Estero Council of Community Leaders, Estero Life Magazine, Estero Historical Society, Estero Chamber of Commerce, Estero Fire Rescue, Lee County Sheriff’s Department, and the Estero High School ROTC. One member of the Village Council serves as the liaison to help facilitate this group of highly motivated individuals.

The Village of Estero appreciates the efforts of our community’s many dedicated volunteers.
