Despite COVID and hurricanes, development activity remains strong in the Village of Estero. Building permits issued in the Village from January through December 2023 totaled 5,826 with an estimated construction value of over $328 million. This was a 23% increase over the number of permits issued in 2022 and the highest number of annual permits issued since Estero’s incorporation.

Single-family home permits totaled 322 and were issued primarily in the GL Homes community of River Creek on Corkscrew Road adjacent to Wildcat Run, as well as in Milan Villas, the DR Horton community at the corner of Three Oaks Parkway and Williams Road.

Commercial and residential alteration and renovation permit values totaled $73 million. A significant amount was for hurricane repairs, but also included the Copperleaf clubhouse renovation, the new Oak and Stone restaurant at Estero Crossings, and Pelican Sound’s dining facility renovation.

Building activity continues at Corsa, Stock Development’s multi-family project on Corkscrew Road, and the commercial portion of the site is nearing completion.

For the upcoming year, the Village expects development activity to remain strong. Several new projects will be under review or beginning construction, including properties at U.S. 41 and Coconut Road (Woodfield project), U.S. 41 and Broadway (“Downtown Estero”) and the final phase of Genova at Corkscrew Road and Via Coconut.

The Village also continues with its own community entertainment project on Via Coconut and Williams Road, which will include pickleball and more from Chicken n’ Pickle and High 5 Entertainment.
