May is one of the best months of the year in paradise – not too hot, not too chilly and hopefully enough rain to keep things green and shiny. If we are lucky, low humidity with less traffic on area roadways, will also make it pleasant to get out and enjoy Southwest Florida.

Many of us choose to keep busy with golf, tennis, boating or other activities available to us thru our diverse natural resources. Others prefer to relax at the beach or poolside, perhaps with a cool drink and a good book (or latest issue of Estero Life Magazine).

Since many of our area residents opt to do a little traveling before the nation’s highways get busy or because of the seasonal nature of many residents going back and forth between their northern homes and Estero, we have searched for some suggestions about traveling with pets. Do we travel with our beloved four-legged family members? Or is it wiser to board them? Hopefully you will find the solutions that fit your specific ‘family’ situation.

We would like to introduce you to Zonta, a wonderfully effective national women’s organization thriving in the Bonita Springs area. They have recently reached out to the women of Estero to be inclusive to the region. Some of you may be interested in what they have to offer.

As many of you probably have learned, last month a new Mayor and Vice-Mayor of the Village of Estero were elected. Congratulations to Mayor Jim Boesch and Vice-Mayor, Bill Ribble. Our 7Q format engages mayor Boesch to give us insight into his thoughts on our community.

As we strive to bring variety to Estero Life Magazine we want to introduce you to another quarterly feature we are adding this month: a Wine feature, with practical tips for our readers on wine selections and pairings. This is written for us by Dinah Leach, Wine Director & Sommelier at Angelina’s Restaurant. We hope that you find a new wine experience to your liking.

This month’s dining feature is a latest adventure for SW Florida restauranteur, Sandy Stillwell, Summerlin Jake’s. Patterned after the name-sake of Summerlin Rd. in Ft. Myers, we guarantee you to enjoy a very unique menu and a variety of tastes and textures.

This past 5-6 weeks have been very active in the Estero area and so we have expanded our ‘scenes on site’ in addition to our favorite features: Best Bets, Happenings and Village Life!  Enjoy!!!

To all the mothers, near and far, we wish you a very happy Mother’s Day. May you receive all of the love, attention, respect and appreciation you so richly deserve. And for those of us whose mothers are no longer with us, may they remain golden memories in our hearts.

And, to all of our service men and women in uniform and our treasured veterans of all wars and conflicts, we salute you as we remember our fallen heroes. Your valor and dedication keeps us safe and free. You are in our hearts, minds and prayers this Memorial Day (and always).  God Bless America!!

As always… Life is GOOD!!!
