Let’s celebrate!

Gary Israel
Pardon my bias, but for me, having been born in March, it is one of the best months each year! We all remember “in like a lion, out like a lamb,” and March is packed with special days and reasons to celebrate!
Let’s start with the March holidays: Mardi Gras (4) and St. Patrick’s Day (17), both traditionally excellent opportunities to let your “inner lion” roar. It also brings the vernal equinox (first day of spring) that almost everyone looks forward to.
But there are many other reasons to celebrate starting with National Peanut Butter Lovers Day (March 1) and the start of Daylight Saving Time (9). For the brainiacs, there is National Pi Day (14), then my favorite, National Napping Day (20), and even National Goof Off Day (22) – glad it’s on a Saturday! Sports enthusiasts know that March is the heart of baseball’s spring training season and of course, March Madness. All good reasons to celebrate and enjoy the month of March.
Locally, here in the Village of Estero, we are about to enjoy EsteroFest, sponsored by the Greater Estero Chamber of Commerce and celebrating the growing business community (see Village Connection for details). This year’s event is also an opportunity to celebrate Estero’s 10th anniversary as a Florida municipality. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy food, music, kids’ activities and the Ben Allen Band concert — see what Estero is all about!
Our dining review this month showcases fine dining and fresh seafood as the Real Seafood Co. celebrates its new location at Coconut Point (former location of Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill) after serving Southwest Florida for 20 years in North Naples. Seafood lovers will appreciate Real Seafood Co.’s tradition of sustainably sourcing fresh, top-quality fish and shellfish from the cold waters of New England and the Great Lakes, along with locally caught Gulf selections. These are certainly reasons to celebrate this new dining option in our area.
Whatever your reasons for celebrating, we encourage you to get out of the house and enjoy all that the Village of Estero has to offer. Our opportunities are plentiful.
Until next time, remember to…
Enjoy the Good Life, Estero Life!!
