Naturalist Grub Club 2019

Join a Florida Master Naturalist at Koreshan State Park for a Grub Club experience.  Bring your lunch and join the Grub Club to learn and experience the naturalist topic of that day.  Naturalist Grub Club sessions are free with park entry fee: $5 per vehicle with 2-8 occupants, $4 per single-occupant vehicle, and $2 for pedestrians and bicyclists.

June 18th  12:00 noon – 1:00P.M.

Manatees – Join a Florida Master Naturalist for a GRUB CLUB experience on manatees and dolphins. Creatures that are fun to watch and are extremely interesting!  Discussion will touch on behaviors, anatomy and fun facts, as well as differences between the two species. Bones of these species will be shared so that participants can experience and understand more deeply the wonders of these marine mammals. 

July 9th   12:00 noon – 1:00P.M.

Shells – Join a Florida Master Naturalist for a GRUB CLUB experience on shells and the mysterious creatures that reside inside.  Find out how the shells are created and built. Discussion will touch on behaviors, anatomy and fun facts, as well as the opportunity to hold and see the shells of specimens that lived in the Gulf of Mexico and Estero Bay.

August 28th  12:00 noon – 1:00P.M.

Gopher Tortoise – Join a Florida Master Naturalist for a GRUB CLUB experience on gopher tortoises. Discover just how fascinating this ancient species is! They are fun to watch, but we must never lose sight of the fact that they are endangered. Discussion will touch on behaviors, anatomy and fun facts, and the opportunity to hold and see the shells of specimens that lived in Koreshan State Park.

September 18th 12:00 noon – 1:00P.M.

Butterflies Join a Florida Master Naturalist for a GRUB CLUB experience on butterflies of Koreshan State Park and Southwest Florida. Topics will touch on differences between moths and butterflies, butterfly development, plants that support butterflies, netting techniques, tagging and more. Talk will be held at the picnic pavilion of Koreshan State Park.
