A fresh, new beginning! That’s what the New Year represents. I love the process of starting over. A chance to maybe take a different approach. I also enjoy changing out the several calendars we have around the house (I know, old-fashioned). But there is always a new scene, photo or landscape that brings a little extra enjoyment, unlike the stark digital calendars.
But before we look forward to the future, maybe we should take a look in the rearview mirror, to be mindful of where we have been and what we have done. This month’s Village Connection does just that, giving us all a look back at the many accomplishments this past year.
Our cover story this month is our annual Economic Outlook as we look forward to celebrating our 10th year as a municipality. We begin with a historical perspective for those who have recently (within the last 5 years) relocated to our paradise and may not be aware of many changes in such a short period. We know you will enjoy reading Estero’s story, as we anticipate the many new projects and growth in our area.
Lee Health Coconut Point is also starting off the new year on a very positive note by hosting the 2nd annual Pedal with a Purpose to benefit the Lee Health Cancer Institute support services and cancer care. We invite you to enjoy our coverage of this fun, but very important, event.
Another fun event this month is happening at my church, Estero Community Church. We would like to invite anyone with pets to join us for The Blessing of the Pets on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 10-11:30 a.m. on the property next to the church, located at 21115 Design Parc Lane (directly across Corkscrew Road from the Estero Community Park). Don’t forget leashes and/or cages.
To see highlights from last month’s major community event, Light Up Estero, check out the Scene on Site gallery at the back of the magazine.
And lastly, this month’s dining feature takes us to the mystique of the eastern Mediterranean. Tucked away in the corner of a small plaza off Airport-Pulling Road, in Naples, is where you will discover SIMIT Fresh Mediterranean. What is most important is that everything is organic and made fresh by the hands of their chefs, using the best ingredients imported from around the world. SIMIT is a unique and delicious alternative for the slightly adventurous.
The New Year is the perfect time to try something different!
Until next time, remember to…
Enjoy the Good Life, Estero Life!!
