The Pelican Landing Children’s Hospital Support Group presents its 8th Annual Golisano Children’s Hospital Fashion Show on Dec. 8, featuring on-trend looks by Millstead Boutique of Naples. The event also includes an auction and luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point. Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m.

The annual fashion show started in 2010 as part of a dedicated effort by the Pelican Landing Children’s Hospital Support Group to raise $500,000 to name four rooms in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the new Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. The Support Group surpassed its goal and also donated $125,000 for outdoor play equipment in the hospital’s Discovery Garden.

Now the Support Group is helping to raise funds for the Kids’ Minds Matter initiative, an effort to bring a pediatric behavioral health center to the Children’s Hospital. Kids’ Minds Matter was founded in 2016 when a group of concerned volunteers noticed a lack of resources for children struggling with mental and behavioral health issues. According to Lee Health Foundation, an estimated 46,000 children in Southwest Florida currently have or have had a seriously debilitating mental disorder. Dr. Emad Salman, medical director for the Golisano Children’s Hospital, has made made it a top priority to provide in-patient and outpatient counseling and therapy to these children, along with support to their families.

The “Polly Parrot Partner” program offers several sponsorship levels and opportunities to help. More information is available on the Lee Health Foundation website. Donations may be made online or mailed to: Golisano Children’s Hospital, ℅ Pat Smart, 25031 Bay Cedar Drive, Bonita Springs, FL 34134.
