Every individual in Estero probably has a different answer for what brings you joy. It is a very personal emotion. Nevertheless, there are some common sources of joy: falling in love, discovering something new, enjoying a great meal, or watching the antics of a clever animal. As we explore a few of those in this issue, we invite you to think about what fills you with joy and make the effort to seek it out!

This month’s cover story looks into new preschool options here in Estero. Rapid residential growth, particularly in the east area, is increasing demand for early childhood education programs. These new schools offer young students the opportunity to feel the joy of walking into their new classrooms for the first time to begin their educational journeys, while at the same time bringing joy to their parents as they witness their children making new connections. As you will read, the “secret sauce” to early learning is fostering a love of joyful discovery through a supportive environment that children do not want to leave at the end of the day!

For many people, there is nothing that brings joy like having a pet. Each month, after the home delivery of Estero Life Magazine to our subscribers, we follow up with a shareable newsletter by email. We recently put out a call to our readers: “Tell us about your pets.” In this issue, we highlight a few of Estero’s most interesting animal companions as your neighbors share why their pets make them smile.  We offer a huge thank you to the many readers who shared their stories (and apologize that we couldn’t include them all)!

While everyone doesn’t have a pet, we all can appreciate a truly great meal! But jubilant dining experiences are built on more than the food itself. Great restaurants often have a great back story that connects the diner with the overall dining experience. Such is the case with Lujack’s All-American Grill on Airport Road in North Naples. The entire restaurant is a tribute to the widespread joy brought by Johnny Lujack, the legendary 1940s Notre Dame quarterback, Heisman Trophy winner and record-setting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Sports fans and non-sports fans alike will be inspired by the memorabilia found throughout the spacious dining room and bar. It is truly a joyful celebration of an iconic player of historical dimensions. We know everyone will find a personal favorite among the many delicious options. This could be the perfect place for a Father’s Day celebration.

And while we are speaking of sports, I’d like to highlight the inspiring athletic talents of the nationally recognized Louisville Slugger Warriors National Amputee Baseball Team. U.S. Army veteran and Estero resident David Van Sleet, the team’s general manager, is using baseball to fulfill childhood dreams and bring great joy to veterans who have lost limbs in service or through accidents or disease. There will be two games played on Saturday, June 13. Check out the details in our Happenings on page 13. Another prefect treat for Father’s Day!

We wish every father, grandfather, great-grandfather, stepfather or father-figure a wonderful Father’s Day in appreciation for the many things you contribute!

Until next month, remember to…

Enjoy the Good Life: Estero Life!!!
