Now that we finally made it to the fall season, by the calendar anyway, I say that we all look forward to slightly cooler temperatures and lower humidity and begin to relax and enjoy the Estero lifestyle! Let’s start to venture out, masks and sanitizers in hand, and begin to support the many local businesses that are trying to hang on. Most are doing everything they can to make our shopping, dining and leisure activities as safe and enjoyable as possible. Just use a little care and common sense when you go out. It’s time to begin to live again!

We might suggest, if you want to start out slowly, that you consider an open-air environment first. Our feature story this month on “Open-Air Markets” will give you a terrific insight into this concept here in Southwest Florida. Here in Estero, outdoor farmers’ markets are a million-dollar-plus business, and the markets are all around us. Did you know that the market at Miromar Outlets has been open during the pandemic? The farmers market at Coconut Point will reopen on October 1, and a new market will be opening up at University Village Shops this month! So, get up! Get out! And Enjoy!!

And, if you need a little boost to get your “happy face” on, Lee Health is the first in the nation to offer “The Lift Project,” a unique program that combines positive psychology, lifestyle medicine and neuroscience to lift your mood. Read all about how you can improve your happiness by at least by 30 percent! A new 10-week session will begin in early October.

Or, maybe you need to find a new hobby to lift your spirits and keep your mind occupied. We recently asked our readers to share the hobbies they have taken up during the COVID shutdown. You’ll be surprised to read about your neighbors’ creative endeavors, and perhaps, encouraged to start something new yourself!

Our dining feature this month invites you to further lift your spirits by indulging in a delicious and fun-filled, Tex-Mex dining experience at Cantina 109 in Gulf Coast Town Center. Most of you have probably driven past and not even noticed. Trust us, you will be glad you stopped. Fresh, creative and flavorful food all in a great atmosphere for your next fiesta!

And finally, we offer another reason to celebrate this month as we help the Village of Estero officially unveil its new logo. See it in this month’s Village Connection! Much time, consideration, public input and hours of discussion went into this effort of rebranding. We know you will enjoy reading about what’s behind this beautiful design.

We look forward to the time when we can resume in-person events and begin to share the many “happenings” and activities that we typically enjoy in the fall. But much of that will depend on how much everyone’s confidence grows as we begin to resume our coveted lifestyle here in the Village of Estero.

In the meantime, don’t forget to…

Enjoy the Good Life: Estero Life!!
