VILLAGE CONNECTION – Village Center is Taking Shape
The Estero Village Council has been consistent in addressing the need to create an area within the Village that would act as a gathering place and foster a sense of community. This vision was incorporated into the Village’s Comprehensive Plan through the establishment of the Village Center planning area.
The Village Center will serve as “downtown Estero,” a place where residents gather outside their gated communities in a walkable, bikeable area with many park and recreational spaces to enjoy. The Village’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan further built upon the council’s vision and reaffirmed the importance of creating a Village Center to establish a social and recreational center for Estero.
The Village is now implementing these visions with work currently under construction along Via Coconut Point, including Lumio, Estero SportsPark and High 5 Entertainment. Lumio is a mixed-use development located south of Corkscrew Road along Via Coconut Point which has incorporated public spaces and improvements into its project plan. Those public improvements include a small park along Corkscrew Road, Via Coconut Point median landscaping from Williams Road north, and a new, wide, meandering sidewalk along Via Coconut Point.
To make room for the Estero SportsPark entry and High 5 Entertainment parking lot, the existing Lee County maintenance facility must be relocated further north. The new maintenance facility is almost complete, awaiting power. The county is scheduled to move into its new maintenance building this month.
The High 5 Entertainment site and building are well into construction. Wright Construction continues to make progress, including a new surface parking lot, all underground infrastructure, a detention lake, and two pad-ready sites for future family entertainment partners. Site construction is scheduled to be completed in fall 2026, coincident with the opening of High 5.
High 5’s contractor, Parkway Construction, is progressing with foundation work in preparation of building construction in April. High 5 will include indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, miniature golf, bowling, an arcade and other family entertainment elements, all serviced by a scratch kitchen. High 5 has already started event, league and tournament planning for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.
Phase 1 of the Village’s SportsPark project also started construction in January 2026. Land clearing has been completed, and the Village’s construction manager, Suffolk Construction, has started pond excavation, site fill, and construction of two natural grass fields north of Jeff Sommer Stadium that will replace the existing soccer and football fields located along Bode Boulevard.
This first phase of construction includes a grand entry off Via Coconut Point, two multi-use grass fields, two parking lots and general infrastructure required to support High 5 and future phases of the SportsPark. Phase 2 construction is expected to start in 2027 and will include multipurpose synthetic turf fields, a driving range, two restroom buildings, a pavilion, an event lawn and walking trails.
