MY Shower Door/ D3 Glass Named ‘Manufacturer of the Year’

Bill Daubmann of My Shower Door receives an IAA AwardSouthwest Florida-based MY Shower Door and D3 Glass was recognized as “Manufacturer of the Year” at the recent Industry Appreciation Awards event presented by Lee County’s Economic Development Office, the Horizon Council and the Horizon Foundation. The award, presented before 750 people at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point and Spa, honors a local manufacturing business in Lee County that “exhibits excellence and growth in leadership, performance, profitability and workforce relations.”

MY Shower Door, founded by the Daubmann family, has grown from 56 employees in 2014 to over 100 this year with showrooms in Fort Myers, Naples, Sarasota, Tampa and Orlando. D3 Glass continues its explosive growth in glass fabrication and tempering, allowing the company to manufacture its own glass and expand the company brand over the past seven years. MY Shower Door/D3 Glass recently built a new, 60,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing facility off Alico Road in south Fort Myers. Company revenues have exploded from $11.4 million in 2016 to $16.9 million last year as the demand for the product grows.

Lee Health & NCH Reach Agreement on Bonita Community Health Center

Bonita Community Health CenterAfter almost two decades of co-ownership of Bonita Community Health Center (BCHC), Lee Health and NCH Healthcare System have reached an agreement whereby Lee Health will become the sole owner of the facility.

BCHC is a 100,000-square-foot facility with physician offices, urgent care center, diagnostics and imaging, surgery center and physical therapy services. It opened in December 2000 as a joint operation of NCH and Lee Health with 50/50 ownership.

This acquisition creates the opportunity for Lee Health to plan services between BCHC and Lee Health Coconut Point as sister facilities, said Larry Antonucci, M.D., MBA, President & CEO of Lee Health. Lee Health has no immediate operational changes planned. Patients will continue to see the same familiar physicians and providers. Bonita Community Health Center is located just south of the intersection of U.S. 41 and Coconut Road.

30th Annual March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction Raises $450,000

Goss Family, March of Dime AmbassadorsMarch of Dimes Southwest Florida hosted its annual Signature Chefs Auction, presented by the Higdon Group, on October 24, 2019. More than 300 guests helped raise $450,000 for the health of all moms and babies.

The culinary benefit took place at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa and was emceed by Stacey Deffenbaugh. The elegant evening featured some of the city’s top-tier chefs, who prepared a selection of their signature dishes. Attendees also had the chance to bid on an impressive selection of live and silent auction items. The Signature Chefs Auction ambassador family, Ashley and Jason Goss, shared their personal and moving story and how March of Dimes-funded research helped their family.

Coach Nelson was honored for having led the Estero High School Wildcats to a win against rival Bonita Springs on Oct. 4. Mason Crowell is a three-year performer at the varsity level on the Estero Wildcats and the starting running back and kicker. He was the MVP at this competitive event; he had 26 carries for 100 yards, was two-for-two on extra points, one-for-two on field goals and was also successful on a surprise onside kick.

Established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in 2017, the MPIO program is a three-course series to prepare senior level public information officers for an expanded role in delivering public information and warning using a strategic, whole community approach. It is the Department of Homeland Security’s highest level of training and credentialing for public information professionals.

FGCU Grads Start New SWFL Tech Company: Fieldr

Two recent Florida Gulf Coast University graduates have cofounded a tech startup called Fieldr. Fieldr is a web-based application that streamlines the engagement between students and recruiters. The focus is on bridging the gap in communication and career readiness through the experiential learning opportunities that organizations and schools have to offer. This includes internships, mentorships, project-based or course-based learning, subcontracting, apprenticeships and more.

The Fieldr team, composed of Finance grad Natalie Finazzo and Entrepreneurship grad Connor Firmender, are working closely with FGCU and its School of Entrepreneurship. While the platform is in beta testing, businesses can sign up for free, post job opportunities and provide the Fieldr team with feedback to improve the website. A job matching feature links companies with the most qualified candidates.

Fieldr hopes to grow and expand to schools and communities across the county, creating a stronger and more experienced generation of workforce!
