Salute to Veterans
November 17, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pmFree
Looking for something fun to do with the family that’s meaningful as well? On Nov. 17, the Village of Estero will honor all Estero veterans, active military, first responders and Gold Star parents from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a free, patriotic party at Estero Community Park.
Lots of exciting activities are on the docket. Among them, there will be face-painting and other children’s activities, free hot dogs and plenty of condiments to go along with them, a 21-gun salute, military theme songs, as well as recognition of those who have served, or who are currently serving, in the U.S. military.
A patriotic musical performance will be presented at noon by Estero vocalist Lindsey Graham, who will later perform an American pop music concert with dancing for all. This party is designed to bring the entire community together. Plan on bringing your family, friends and neighbors, along with your lawn chairs or blankets.
“We need to keep the importance of patriotism for all generations,” says co-chair Nolen Rollins. “When people experience war, they understand, they remember how important the service of our veterans has been to our community and our country.”
Rollins worked closely with Councilman Jon McLain to plan the Salute to Veterans. They wanted to honor Estero’s many veterans, along with those who are currently serving, for their contributions to our freedoms.
The decision to make this a family-friendly get-together was deliberate. Younger generations will be reminded of the sacrifices that have been made by those who have served in previous wars, many before these youngsters were born.
The Salute to Veterans is sure to be a great time, and a time to honor local heroes who have put country before self and benefitted us all. See you at the patriotic party on the 17th at Estero Park!
