Relay for Life will celebrate cancer survivors with an annual race for the community of Bonita Springs and Estero. The April 27 event will kick off with an opening ceremony, followed by a survivor speech and a survivor lap led by the Bonita Springs High School Marching Band.

The day will include carnival-themed relay laps, live music, activities and games, food from relay teams and Bonita Springs High School’s Bull Sharks Booster Club, a raffle, and several other prize giveaways.

The raffle, donated by Artichoke & Company, will give attendees the opportunity to win a three-course dinner for 10, complete with a private chef and server. There will also be gift baskets from the Southwest Florida Symphony and giveaways from local businesses.

At the relay, appearances will be made by Florida Everblades mascot Swampee and Fort Myers Miracle mascot Sway. There also will be several special guests and dignitaries.

To close the event, relay teams will light luminarias dedicated to loved ones whose lives have been affected by cancer. There will be a moment of silence to honor those who have passed on, those currently battling, and those who have overcome the disease.

Relay for Life hopes to raise $65,000 with the help of the Bonita-Estero community. The event is designed to recognize cancer survivors, caregivers, and people who are actively fighting the disease.
