THE EVENT
Estero Houses of Worship invite everyone to attend the National Day of Prayer event May 6, dedicating the lunch hour for a time of communal prayer. This year’s event is hosted by First Baptist Church of Estero. The annual, non-denominational prayer service provides an opportunity for people of various faith backgrounds to unite in prayer for the nation, as well as the local community.
The theme for this year’s National Day of Prayer is “Lord, pour out your love, life and liberty” — based on 2 Corinthians 3:17. Similar prayer gatherings will be taking place throughout the nation on May 6. This year marks the 70th National Day of Prayer in America.
National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
At the Estero event, several local pastors will help guide prayer sessions. National Day of Prayer is a public event, and all are welcome to join in prayer.
