Modern Southwest Florida History Free Presentation

FreeScott Simmons is well-known in southwest Florida for his column in Florida Weekly on antiques and collectibles. His presentation on March 12 at 9:30 a.m. will be a journey through southwest Florida’s development, showing how it has changed and grown over the past seventy-five years, and will utilize some of the very unique collectibles associated with Florida’s growth as a tourist destination during that period.
For residents and visitors who only know places like Fort Myers, Naples, Bonita and Estero as they appear today, the revelations Scott may be a surprise. Certainly the opportunity to learn about some of the most popular collectibles and vintage products that originated in Florida and were used to popularize travel here are amazing and Scott will bring items from his personal collection to the presentation to share with the audience. The Simmons family moved to Fort Myers from Indiana in 1958 and so the massive growth and change has been a part of Scott’s life. Join him for a personal journey through the modern history of southwest Florida.
