The Jacobite uprisings of mid-18th century England and Scotland had a profound impact on American history – particularly the French & Indian War and the American Revolution. Estero Historical Society presents Tartan & Targe, scheduled for Saturday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m., to demonstrate how these events across the Atlantic exerted Celtic and Scottish influence in the development and settlement of areas in America – particularly in Florida.
The EHS welcomes back popular local history presenter, Jacob Winge, who, in full 1740’s Jacobite costume, will bring this intriguing subject to life. It’s a presentation that fans of the television show Outlander won’t want to miss! Advance registration is requested for this presentation at http://esterohistoricalsociety.com; with a $10 donation for each participant. An afternoon snack will be served at the event. This presentation completes the 2021-22 season of Yesterday & Today lectures hosted by the Estero Historical Society, with a new season beginning in the fall.
