Klimbing For Kids Informational Meeting
July 14, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Interested in making a huge impact and experience a trip of a lifetime? Join Haven of Hope of Thursday, July 14th at 12pm for an informational meeting about Klimbing for Kids.
Think BIG Dream BIGGER is the battle cry of Fort Myers based Haven of Hope International, a global nonprofit that focuses on raising the standard of orphan care.
What: Klimbing for Kids Campaign: Founder Alice Skaff, along with several Fort Myers community members, plan to scale Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, one of the most iconic mountains in the world. The campaign is supported by community members through sponsoring climbers and general donations.
When: September 16-27, 2022
Where: The group will climb the Machame Route to the 19,341 foot-tall-summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Why: Their purpose—to raise funds for Haven of Hope’s Futures of Hope Vocational Program that provides funding for employable vocation training or college tuition for these children to have the critical skills to live successful adult lives. Skaff explains, “There is a global orphan crisis that is big and real. It is 153 million children strong. By population it would be the 9th largest country in the world. And it is estimated that 99% of these children will never be adopted. Yet, each one has a dream for a better future and a destiny to fulfill.”
In late 2018, Skaff made her first journey up to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro and is back in 2022 to lead another team ready to once again show these children that they too can climb any mountain in life. “The climb they have to succeed in life is harder than what we are going to be doing in one week,” explains Alice Skaff.
Everyone is invited to climb or sponsor the campaign or a climber. Those interested in climbing should visit www.havenofhopeintl.org or email susan@havenofhopeintl.org
