The Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance will host a wall-raising ceremony on Oct. 16 to celebrate the commencement of work on Parker’s Place Community Center, part of the organization’s larger development that is offering safe, affordable housing for families in Immokalee. Guests will have the opportunity to sign the walls before they are enclosed, symbolizing their support for the project and the community. 

The community center is the fourth building to be constructed as part of the development, which will eventually include 128 rental units across eight buildings. Once completed, the community center will be just a short walk from the residents’ apartments and will provide early learning and afterschool activities for children, as well as educational and enrichment activities for adults. The center will also offer useful financial and budgetary guidance for its residents.
