DRIVE OUT HUNGER

INTERFAITH CHARITIES ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNER
Interfaith Charities of South Lee will host its 9th Annual Drive Out Hunger Benefit Dinner on April 4, from 6-9 p.m. The theme for this year’s event will shift from the freeway to the fairway. This golf-themed evening will include a buffet-style dinner, a silent auction, a live dessert auction and a short video explaining how Interfaith Charities’ food pantry provides for the poor in the community.
The delicious dinner with appetizers and drinks will culminate with the wildly popular and scrumptious live dessert auction, featuring novelty cakes from local vendors. The event will be emceed by NBC-2 news anchor, Stacey Deffenbaugh, and Rick Gallo will be the auctioneer.
In 2018, the Interfaith Charities Benefit Dinner raised about $80,000, and the organization hopes to raise about the same this year. Interfaith Charities asks that guests purchase tickets before March 22. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to “drive out hunger” in the community!
THE CAUSE
Of the 44,000 residents living in Estero and San Carlos Park, about 13,200 of them are living in poverty. This staggering statistic means 30 percent of our community struggles to provide for their families. Interfaith Charities works to ease this struggle by running a food pantry, providing financial assistance to those in crisis, rendering free income tax preparation, and running a free summer lunch program for disadvantaged children. Through the generosity of donors and local merchants, the organization works to fulfill its mission to feed the hungry, guide the young, and aid the needy.
