Digital Discussion: Marjory Stoneman Douglas – Defender Of The Everglades

Marjory Stoneman Douglas was part of the women’s suffrage movement, author, journalist, and conservationist known for her stand against draining the Everglades and reclaiming land for development.  Her book The Everglades: River of Grass published in 1947 was credited with changing the public’s view of the Everglades as a valuable river instead of a worthless swamp. Douglas remained a crusader until her death at the age of 108. Learn about her life and her activism.
