BONITA SPRINGS CONCERT BAND JANUARY CONCERT
January 23 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
The Bonita Springs Concert Band series continues into the New Year! Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy music by talented community musicians at Riverside Park in downtown Bonita Springs. Our wonderful, local concert band brings you this free performance in the park on Sunday, January 23, sponsored by the Bonita Senior Center. The band will open with Estero Life Magazine’s very own Gary Israel singing The Star Spangled Banner and O Canada! Some of the exciting and varied numbers include “Defying Gravity,” “Poet and Peasant Overture,” “Tribute to Whitney Houston” and “The Vanished Army March.” Guest soloist James Jones will sing an Al Jarreau medley arranged by Rick DeJonge.
The band continues under the direction of conductor Gary E. Smith, who retired after 24 years as conductor of the University of Illinois Marching Illini Band and Symphonic Band. This free-of-charge afternoon is made possible through sponsors and donations; you can help enrich community culture and sustain these local performances by making a donation during collection at the concert. If you want to listen but cannot attend in person, there’s more than one way to enjoy the day! The concert will be live-streamed on the website www.bonitaspringsconcertband.org at the time of the event.
