As most of you know, the health care needs of the Village of Estero has been one of the foremost topics of discussion, controversy and concern for more than a decade. With the recent groundbreaking for the 163,500 sq. ft. medical village to be provided by Lee Heath, we are pausing briefly to acknowledge the change in senior leadership within Lee Health. It is with great honor that we say ‘thank you’ to outgoing President and CEO, Jim Nathan for four decades of leadership and a sincere ‘welcome’ on behalf of the Village of Estero to Dr. Larry Antonucci as he steps up to take the reins of our community healthcare system.
How many of you, our readers, are aware that the epicenter for Junior Golf is in my own community of Stoneybrook? Golf Pro, Jeff Nixon, has taken more than a leadership role in the Junior Golf programs as evidenced by the SWFJGA open running July 26-28. Learn this month what these youth programs are contributing to our community.
We have so many talented and giving members of our community. I know you will enjoy the meaningful work being done by Bella Terra resident, Alice Skaff, as she takes her successes with an orphanage that she sponsored in Bolivia to greater heights as a model for other locations around the world through her non-profit Haven of Hope, Intl. You may even want to become involved in her efforts.
Our dining feature this month is dedicated to the smaller, delicious cafes and diners in our area where you can go for breakfast and/or lunch and enjoy fresh, scratch cooking and a friendly atmosphere.
I am honored to welcome the Village of Estero to the pages of Estero Life Magazine. Opposite this page, please notice our first of three ‘Village Connection’ articles running this summer. We are working with Village Manager, Steve Sarkozy, to provide our readers/residents with major accomplishments of the Village that he feels should be of interest to us all. We invite your thoughts, comments and observations to email@example.com.
Of course, we have all of your favorites, the Best Bets, Scene of Sites, Village Life and Design.
July is a great time of year to relax and take pleasure in our favorite summer activities while avoiding the heat and thunderstorms. Smaller crowds allows us to savor the Estero lifestyle and take advantage of our local shops, restaurants and tourist destinations at a more leisurely pace.
Finally, all of us wish you all a very safe and happy summer and Fourth of July. I encourage you to take a few minutes from the many activities to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in such a terrific country. God Bless America.
Until next month remember…Life is GOOD!
